The National Certification Commission is organized as an independent
not-for-profit association established in June 1993 and located in suburban Maryland (Washington, DC).
The
Commission provides information and guidance to hundreds of national associations on development and improvement of certification
programs with designations representing thousands of practitioners engaged in numerous professions and occupations.
As a non-governmental entity not operated by a management firm nor affiliated with any product vendors, the Commission consistently
affords objective, responsive, and cost-effective advice to better serve associations and their constituencies.
Membership consist of more than 150 organizations representing nearly 400 designation categories. Annual participation
assessment is $100 which covers all interested certification personnel in a member association.
In addition,
ACA, BCA, CCA, and DCA designations are available from the Commission for certification administrators and committee members.
There is also a complimentary Code of Conduct pledge for certification and association administrators.
National
accreditation is available for existing association programs offering certification designations.
Members (associations,
designates, and individuals) receive weekly the email newsletter "Certification Communications" containing
numerous relevant articles, surveys, and reports.
Members may request prior articles from thousands available
(see sidebar), and readily receive replies to certification questions and comments in a timely manner.
For association
membership, please print and return the application form posted on this website (see sidebar). Separate applications are
available for individual designations and national accreditation.

The certification Code
of Conduct is part of ACA and BCA comportment statements available since 1993 and 1996, respectively.
Since
October 2006, codes may be subscribed to online as separate pledges apart from the designation categories.
